Since 2019, Mr Moynihan has been a councillor for Palmerstown-Fonthill, representing communities in Lucan, Palmerstown and Clondalkin. A Lucan native, he holds a degree in Economics and Politics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics, and a PhD in Political Science from Trinity College Dublin. He is a former secretary of his local GAA club, serves on three school boards, is a director of ACE Enterprise Park in Clondalkin, and chairs the Ballyowen Community Centre board in Lucan. He is married with three boys.

Social Democrats councillor Eoin O'Broin grew up in Clondalkin and attended Coláiste Chilliain, his career is in Energy Systems Modelling. He was active in the Scouts and Round Towers GAA before moving away to study and work in Limerick, Gothenburg, Geneva, and Paris. He is a trade unionist and has highlighted the issues facing workers and families since being elected to South Dublin County Council in 2019.

Mr Ó Broin is one of Sinn Féin's most prominent TDs and is the party's spokesperson for housing. He has been a Sinn Féin activist for 22 years in Belfast and Dublin, was elected to Belfast City Council between 2001 and 2004 and was a member of South Dublin County Council between 2013 and 2016 when he was elected to the Dáil. Mr O Broin is the author of a number of books. He lives in Clondalkin with his partner, Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan.

Francis Timmons has been a councillor for 10 years and is now seeking a seat in this constituency for the Labour Party. Mr Timmons has previously been elected to South Dublin County Council as an Independent candidate. However, he says he was asked by the Labour Party to run for them in this upcoming General Election. “The history and values of the Labour Party as a progressive centre-Left party are ones I share," he said.

Mr Ward was co-opted to South Dublin County Council in 2016 when Eoin Ó Broin was elected to the Dáil. Mark went on to top the poll in the North Clondalkin, Palmerstown, Lucan ward in 2019. He was then elected in the by election in 2019 was returned in the general election of 2020 alongside Eoin Ó’Broin TD. He is a qualified behavioural therapist and specialised working with people with addiction and dual diagnosis issues. He is from Clondalkin, lives in Lucan and has three children.
