A Sinn Féin candidate was a Dublin City councillor for Ballymun from 2014 to 2019. She sought re-election in the 2019 local election for Ballymun-Finglas and was eliminated on the fourteenth count. A Ballygall native, she also contested the 2016 general election. Carney Boud is a member of the Education Training Board and the Joint Policing Committee and the Planning & International Relations SPC. A graduate of Trinity College with a Degree in Law and Politics, she works as a political advisor in the Seanad. In her campaign, she promises to commit to tackling the housing crisis and provide a fairer tax system to create a more equal society.

The Green Party politician first ran in the local election in 2014. She was elected a Dublin City councillor from 2019 to 2024 for the Ballymun-Finglas area and served as the Lord Mayor of Dublin from 2022 to 2023. A Ballymun native sought re-election in the local elections this year but lost her seat, being eliminated on the eighth count. In this general election, she promises to focus on the transport system, including the Metrolink project and bike routes. Her other priorities are hot meals for children in school and tackling the housing shortage.

A Centre Party candidate, Croft ran independently in the local election this year in the Artane-Whitehall area for Dublin City Council but was eliminated on the seventh count. He also previously unsuccessfully ran in the 2014 local election and 2020 general election. He has volunteered in his local community for more than 15 years and served as the board member of the Whitehall Ballymun Partnership. Croft is currently a chairman of Santry Tidy Towns – an environmental group based in Santry – which he founded in 2020.

A Sinn Féin politician, Ellis has been a well-known TD in Dublin North-West since 2011 and topped the constituency poll in the last general election by receiving the most first-preference votes. A Finglas native, he was the only TD in the constituency to be elected on the first count. Ellis was previously a Dublin City councillor for Finglas from 1999 to 2011. A lifelong Republican, he contested the 2002 and the 2007 general elections but was unsuccessful. He has been the Sinn Féin spokesperson on Housing and was the party spokesperson on Drugs in the last Dáil. Most recently, he has campaigned against the water charges, for marriage equality and repealing the Eight Amendment. Ellis has acknowledged that he was involved in the IRA “at the highest levels” during the Troubles. The former TV repair man was convicted by the Special Criminal Court in 1983 of possession of electronic remote-controlled devices linked to bombs and was given a 10-year jail sentence. After his acquittal, Mr Ellis became much more involved in politics and he was a supporter of the Good Friday peace agreement.

Author of the best-selling book “Gaffs”, Hearne is an academic and housing expert. He is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Social Policy at Maynooth University and often speaks about the Irish housing crisis in the media. Hearne will replace Róisín Shorthall on the list as Social Democrats candidate following her departure after 32 years of being a TD. He recently ran in the Midlands-Northwest constituency to become an MEP but was eliminated on count 12. Hearne ran unsuccessfully as a People Before Profit Alliance candidate in the 2007 general election for Dublin South East and as an independent candidate in the 2020 Seanad election for the National University of Ireland.

Mac Dubhghlais is a community and homelessness activist from Finglas who previously contested the 2019 local election for Ballymun-Finglas. He has been involved in campaigns and protests, including against the Water Tax and Property Tax. An independent candidate describes himself as “anti-establishment” and an “anti-racist and anti-hate campaigner” who advocates for united Ireland. He promises to focus on public housing and will campaign for a large-scale public house-building programme. He is a former member of the Dublin City Council Strategic Planning Committee and a former volunteer with Inner City Helping Homeless.

A TD in the area since the last general election, he was also a Dublin City councillor for 10 years for Finglas, elected in the 2009 local election. He served as Lord Mayor of Dublin from 2019 to 2020, before becoming a TD in the 2020 general election. A Finglas native, committed to youth development work, is a vice chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage and serves on the Public Accounts Committee. McAuliffe is a spokesperson on Social Protection, Local Government, Electoral Reform and PP Councillor Liaison. He previously ran in the 2016 general election but was eliminated on the ninth count.

Mac Manus is a pharmacist and community activist in Ballymun and surrounding areas. He is a member of the Therapeutic Committee in the Ballymun Drug and Alcohol Task Forces and a former member of the National Drug and Alcohol Task Force. An Aontú candidate contested the 2020 general election in Dublin West but was eliminated on the fourth count. He previously ran as a Fianna Fáil candidate in the 2014 local election in Castleknock but was unsuccessful. He promises to focus on access to public transport, affordable housing and to support local community activities.

He unsuccessfully contested the local election this year for Artane-Whitehall. He is a secondary school teacher of science and technology and an active supporter of the Educate Together organisation. Nisbet promises to focus on investment in housing, employment opportunities and local amenities, especially in Ballymun and Finglas. He is the Juvenile Secretary of the Na Fianna GAA Club, a member of the Local Residents Association and has been involved in charity, community and education projects from his teenage years.

A far-right independent candidate, he was elected as a Dublin City councillor for the Ballymun-Finglas area in the local election this year. A taxi driver and father-of-six, he describes himself on social media as “pro-Irish, pro-family, pro-life and pro-free speech”. Pepper has spoken out against immigration and protests against the arrival of asylum-seekers around Dublin. In the upcoming election, he will focus on community banking, allowance for grandparents and opposing the new Hate Speech legislation.

Elected as a councillor to the Dublin City Council for Ballymun-Finglas in this year’s local election, the PhD researcher in Trinity’s School of Medicine received the third-highest amount of first-preference votes in the area. Reddy, the former President of the Postgraduate Workers’ Organisation, contested the 2020 general election as a Solidarity People Before Profit candidate for Dublin North-West but was eliminated on the sixth count – finishing fourth in the three-seater. He has been campaigning for increasing special needs school places and supports.

A professional bus driver from Finglas and a father of three, he is also a founding member of the Valley Park Community Group. He is an active member of his local community and organises a variety of community events and activities. He previously contested the 2020 general election for the National Party, expressing the anti-immigration view in his campaign. He has been involved in protesting the household and water charges and is actively involved in the anti-immigration protests in Dublin North-West.

Fine Gael politician lost his seat in Dublin North-West in the last general election after working as a TD for the area from 2016 to 2020. He was earlier elected as a local councillor for Ballymun in the 2014 local election. A Ballymun native, he served as Chair of the Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government from 2019 to 2020. He previously unsuccessfully contested the 2009 local election for Artane-Whitehall. His priority is to ensure the creation of a Department of Infrastructure to focus on projects such as MetroLink or the extension of the Luas to Finglas.
