The FECP calls for the reform of the early years sector and currently has more than 1,400 members. Ms Dunne ran for local election earlier this year for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Sinéad Gibney is the former Chief Commissioner of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC) and ran as a candidate in the recent European elections in Dublin. She previously ran for local election in the Blackrock area and began campaigning for the general election in 2020, though left the race to take up her role at the IHREC. Ms Gibney previously worked as the head of social action for Google and was the chair of lone-parent organisation One Family.

Media minister Catherine Martin, who was also the deputy party leader until earlier this year, is running for re-election to the Dáil, having first been elected in 2016. Her cabinet portfolio in the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media has been broad, though made the most headlines during the RTÉ payments controversy. Ms Martin has also been responsible for the introduction and expansion of the basic income for the arts and secured increased investment in community sports, women in sport the national governing sporting bodies.

Mr Richmond graduated from UCD, later working for former MEP Gay Mitchell in the European Parliament and former Fine Gael TD Olivia Mitchell before going to work in the not-for-profit sector.

Former Fine Gael justice minister Alan Shatter will contest the election as an independent, eight years after leaving the Dáil, as part of his campaign calling for the abolition of the inheritance tax. A solicitor and author, Mr Shatter was first elected to the Dáil in 1981 for Fine Gael and was returned at every election up to 2002 when he lost his seat. He regained it in the 2007 general election and lost his seat in 2016.

A former press officer for Sinn Féin in the Dáil, Shaun Tracey has worked for the party since 2004 and has also worked as a national administrator in the head office of Sinn Féin. Mr Tracey has previously contested two local elections and two general elections for the party. He was a founding member of Ballyogan Celtic Football Club and has been involved of a number of local campaigns, including the Right2Water campaign.
