Aisling Dempsey was first elected Meath County Council in 2019 as a Fianna Fáil Councillor for the Trim area. She was re-elected this year. She is chairperson of Boyne Valley Tourism since 2021 and supports Trim’s Women’s Shed. Cllr Dempsey currently serves as Cathaoirleach of the Trim Municipal District. She is also a daughter of former Cabinet minister Noel Dempsey and works for Glenveagh Homes.

Cllr Noel French is a well-known historian and writer based in Trim. He was a member of Fine Gael for many years before leaving the party in 2023. He stood in the 2024 local election as an Independent, where he maintained his seat. He first got into local politics in 2013 and ran in the 2020 general election but did not secure a seat.

Ben Gilroy is the founder of Liberty Republic, formerly Direct Democracy and resides in Navan. Mr Gilroy unsuccessfully ran in the 2016 General election with Direct Democracy, and for the Irish Freedom Party in Dublin Bay North at the 2020 general election. Gilroy ran in the European elections in 2014, with Direct Democracy, and in 2019, as an Independent, but did not secure a seat.

From Oldcastle in Co Meath, Mr Guirke has a background in construction, and worked in Ireland before spending several years in the United States, where he founded the Aidan McAnespie GAA Club in Boston.

Finbar Lynch lives in Navan and this is his first time running in any election. Mr Lynch was one of the organisers behind the Meath says no to hate’ rally which took place in Navan in 2023. He has been an active member of Fórsa Trade union, the Community Action Tenants Union and United Against Racism.

Ian McGauley ran in the 2024 local elections for the Kinnegad area in Westmeath but did not secure a seat. Originally from Ballyfermot, he works as a youth worker. His party wants stricter border controls on immigration and is part of the National Alliance.

Séamus McMenamin ran in the general election in both 2016 and 2020 and previously contested the local election in 2019. McMenamin is a GP based in Navan and served as Chair of NEDOC. He has been involved in politics nationally as the health spokesperson of the Green Party.

Cllr Ronan Moore is the Social Democrats candidate in Meath West. He is a post-primary teacher in Navan and was first elected to the county council in 2019 for the Trim area. He retained his seat in June’s local elections and is currently serving as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Trim Municipal District. Moore also ran in the 2020 general election but did not win a seat. He has spent the last seven years on the board of Trim Family Resource Centre.

Councillor Linda Nelson Murray was first elected earlier this year, taking a second seat in Navan for Fine Gael. For the last number of years, she has worked as a parliamentary assistant with the party. A well-known local businesswoman, she got involved in campaigning for insurance reform when her business, The Zone and Huckleberry's Den, faced closure due to insurance costs. She also founded PALI (Play, Action and Leisure Ireland).

Peadar Tóibín was first elected to the Dáil for Sinn Féin in 2011. He resigned from the Sinn Féin Party in 2018, due to his opposition to the party's stance on abortion and formed the Aontú Party in 2019, serving as its leader ever since. Before his election as a TD, he was a self-employed management consultant working in the enterprise sector. He was the founder and chair of the Save Navan Hospital Campaign and campaigned locally against water charges. Mr Tóibín also ran in the European elections earlier this year in the Midlands-Northwest constituency but missed out on a seat.
