Councillor and architect Ciarán Cuffe has been a Green Party councillor on Dublin City Council since 2014 and before that served as a TD and as a junior minister with responsibility for climate change.
Independents 4 Change
Fingal TD Clare Daly was first elected to the Dáil in 2011, having previously served as a councillor. Her entrance into the European Elections caught many by surprise.
Fine Gael
The former SDLP leader and Derry man Mark Durkan is running for Fine Gael in Dublin. He has said he will represent people on both sides of the border in Europe but has no plans to relocate to Dublin if elected. He is a former MP in Westminster and was elected to the Northern Assembly.

Former Tanáiste Frances Fitzgerald is running for Europe having been first elected to the Dáil in 1992 and serving as minister in various portfolios. She was forced to resign as Justice Minister in 2017, but was later found to have acted correctly by the Charleton Tribunal which examined matters relating to the treatment of garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe.
Social Democrats
The north inner city councillor narrowly lost out on election to the Dáil in the 2016 General Election. He is the party’s only candidate for Europe in Dublin.

The founder of Direct Democracy Ireland – who has since resigned from the party and is now running as an independent – stood in the Meath by-elections in 2013 and also in the 2014 European Elections.

A childcare worker and founder of feminist activist group ROSA Ms Harrold is the only Dublin candidate fielded by Solidarity.

An independent Senator Ms Higgins is the daughter of President Michael D Higgins. She was first elected to the Seanad in 2016 on the NUI panel. Prior to her election she worked with the National Women’s Council of Ireland.

Éilis Ryan is a sitting city councillor who represents the north inner city on Dublin’s City Council. At her campaign launch she was endorsed by Independent Socialist TD Clare Daly who has since declared her own candidacy for Dublin.
Labour
Former Communications Minister Alex White served as a TD for five years before losing his seat in 2016 as the Labour Party suffered huge losses around the country.
