Fianna Fáil
Wexford County Councillor Mr Byrne was nominated by Fianna Fáil members to run for the party in Ireland South. He was elected to the council in 2009 and is communications director with the Higher Education Authority.

Chairwoman of the Irexit party – which has not been registered as a political party – is a Professor of Translational Science in UCD.
Fine Gael
Sitting MEP Deirdre Clune was first elected to the European parliament in 2014 and is running for re-election. She sits on the parliament’s transport and tourism committee.

TD and Junior Minister Mr Doyle is one of three Fine Gael candidates for Ireland South. He was first elected to the Dáil in 2007 and is currently Minister of State with responsibility for Food, Forestry and Horticulture.

A pro-life candidate who previously contested general and European elections Ms Heaney, a west-Cork native, previously ran as a National Party candidate. She has called for the banning of the HPV vaccine but said she is not anti-vaccinations.
Fianna Fáil
Cork TD and former minister Billy Kelleher was added to the Fianna Fáil ticket after losing out during the selection convention. His decision to aim for a seat in Brussels and Strasbourg was made against the wishes initially of party leader Micheál Martin who did not want sitting TDs to run for Europe.
Fine Gael
The former GAA president has been an MEP since 2009 and is seeking re-election to the parliament for a third time.

Mr Madden, from Roscrea Co Tipperary, lists his occupation as an environmental educator.

Independent candidate and farmer Liam Minehan is running on a rural platform which calls for the re-invigoration of rural Ireland.
Sinn Féin
Ms Ní Riada was elected to the European parliament in 2014. She was the party’s candidate in last year’s presidential election but commanded just 6.4pc of first preference votes nationally.
Labour
President of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and General Secretary of the country’s largest union, the Irish National Teachers Ms Nunan is the Labour Party’s only candidate in Ireland South.

O’Flynn began the ‘Ballyhea Says No!’ campaign eight years ago and was a sports journalist for the Irish Examiner. After that he served for five years as parliamentary assistant to Luke ‘Ming’’ Flanagan.
Identity Ireland
Mr O’Loughlin is one of the co-founders of the anti-EU party Identity Ireland which campaigns for an end to EU controlled borders and the introduction of what it terms “natural controlled immigration”.
The Green Party
A senator on the Agriculture panel since 2016 Ms O’Sullivan worked for green peace since 2016. The Tramore woman is also a former surfing champion.

An independent tour operator Mr Purcell’s election message is one of “common sense politics”. His policy objectives include “reclaiming our fishing rights” and “stop poisoning our water”.

Cork city resident Mr Sexton lists his occupation as a scientist. His election literature refers to the right to life of all humans, educational integration across Europe and the need for regional cities listing Kilkenny as a potential regional city of Leinster .

Originally from Los Angeles, Van De Ven is the leader of Direct Democracy Ireland and contested the elections in 2014 unsuccessfully gaining 9,255 first preference votes. His party’s main aim is to disrupt the current political system and encourage citizen led governance
Independents 4 Change
The Wexford TD and former property developer decided to enter the race in the last few weeks alongside his colleague Clare Daly who is running in Dublin. The outspoken TD was first elected to the Dáil in 2011.
Solidarity-People Before Profit
Ms Walsh, a 28-year-old former waitress, ran in the 2015 by-election for Carlow-Kilkenny and again in the 2016 General Election.

Ms Worthington is one of three candidates running as independents but hailing from the organisation Families Speaking Out, a campaign group opposed to the building of the national children’s hospital at the site in St James’ hospital in Dublin’s south inner city.
